Our new Q&A series profiles some of the speakers at this year’s show. Next up is Simon Stenning, Founder, FutureFoodservice. Simon will be presenting the ‘Future of Food-To-Go’ session.
What has been your business highlight in the last 12 months
Helping so many clients navigate the recovery from Covid and understand the ‘Next Era’ for the food to go market.
lunch! is the one definite show in my diary each year, where we can see, experience, learn and discuss so much of all that is critical for our industry.
What do you think are the main challenges ahead?
With so many challenges, the key focus for operators is to clearly position themselves, recognising the key theme from our forecasts – “Greater polarisation between value-driven social refueling, and premiumised, experiential dining” which applies to all sectors, not just restaurants.
What do you see as the key food to go trends for 2022 and beyond?
I’ll outline the key food trends in my presentation, but briefly, these are “Worthy, Wow, Worldly, Woke, and a little bit Wacky!”
Are there any products or services in particular that you’re specifically looking to source at lunch! 2022?
I’m looking forward to seeing all the new innovations that exhibitors are showing, to see how these reflect on the future trends.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Seeing audiences from my presentations recognise that the future is going to be different, and inspiring them to think differently about what the future holds.
What are you looking forward to most about visiting lunch! 2022?
Meeting old friends and new, listening to inspiring speakers share their experiences and thoughts, and discussing the future challenges for the sector.
Can you tell us a bit about your much-anticipated session at lunch! 2022?
I’ll be presenting the “Future of Food to Go”, including forecasts for the Lunch and Food To Go market, outlining the key drivers for market performance in 2023, along with the major developments and trends that all operators and suppliers need to be planning for.
